Since Masks are Here to Stay: Your New Normal Skincare Tips

Let's face it,  COVID 19 is now our new normal with people no longer able to move around freely without face mask, beauty outlets such as salons, spa's closing their doors or limiting the number of people they daily attend to, it is important we derive coping measures to this ongoing pandemic. Like water, let's flow around our new normal!

Since the onset of COVID 19, we have heard so many tips and preventive measures amongst which are self isolate if you have any symptoms but theres something on the list that i just knew would be near impossible to do : Stop touching your face.

Yes, it's time to lean into our new normal and form new habits. Due to this fact here's some of our tips we think will help while masking.

DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE.

Everyone of us tend to unconsciously touch our face about 16 times an hour says expert. If you have acne or breakouts, touching your face can significantly increase the risk of infection.

Keeping nails short, trimming or filing them regularly is necessary to prevent bacteria's from breeding under the nails.  Also, ensure you clean under the nails with a nail brush using soap and warm water, and try not to bite your nails or remove the cuticles.

If quitting scratching altogether seems impossible, you may want to consider a more drastic approach, like wearing gloves. "Gloved fingers are much more gentle than sharp fingernails and act as a reminder not to touch or pick so you don't push the infections deeper into the skin.

LIKE UNDIES, CHANGE YOUR MASK DAILY

Face mask have fast become a popular tool to help prevent and decrease the spread of COVID19.  However, it is good to pay attention to ones skin health while masking so we don't create another problem while trying to stop one problem.  Disposable masks should be used once and tossed while Cloth or fabric masks should be washed often just like undies. Also when using a face mask, avoid touching your face because you don’t want the germs on the mask to transfer to your face.

Since a-lot of us tend to have the face mask on longer due to our lifestyle or the nature of our Jobs,  skin woes such  breakout, redness and soreness behind the ear is inevitable. We recommend you stick to your AM and PM skincare regimen before putting on Face mask and after taking off the face mask.

If you notice this kind of irritation after taking off your face mask, wash the area with warm water and a gentle facial cleanser which help frees skin of  bacteria's dead surface cells, make-up, excess oil, and pore-clogging debris, allowing skin to breathe.

Like sanitizing of hands to rid hands of bacteria's, Face washing with a gentle facial cleanser is the vital first step to any healthy beauty routine—cleansing preps up your skin's circulation to boost radiance, and preps it to receive the full benefits of the treatments to follow. follow with a gentle facial moisturizer to help heal the skin

CAN I STILL WEAR MAKE-UP WHILE MASKING?

If you do like to wear make-ups, keep it to the barest minimum so as not to clog up your skin pores while masking and ensure you cleanse face to rid face completely before bedtime.

Velvet cleansing butter balm is our favorite go-to when it comes to make-up removal.
